Finalmente hemos encontrado un hogar… una cocina grande, una cómoda cama, una sala de estudio/living, todo solo para nosotras…
Vamos a compartir con una chica muy simpática, Berna, vive en Francia desde hace seis años, originalmente de Turquía, arquitecto, 31 años….

Estamos cerca del Nuevo Opera de París, y una de las principales estaciones de tren “Gare de Lyon”, que te lleva al sur de Francia. Dos veces a la semana tenemos una feria de frutas y verduras, quesos franceses, y cosillas típicas de Francia. A cinco minutos del Siena, 15 minutos del Bastilla, un lugar muy turístico.

El hogar interno esta muy contento. Tenemos lugar para los amigos, cuando nos visiten. La cocina (Mi favorita!!) es grande, tenemos gas y un horno! Una meza acogedora, una maquina lavaloza, refrigerador, espacio suficiente para celebrar. Un pequeño balcón para los fumadores, y por donde entra el fresco del París… hace calor por ahora! Ah, y hasta un ascensor para subir las compras…

Estamos muy contentas de estar aquí, algo que nos estabilice, algo cómodo para vivir, y disfrutar de Francia…

18. The Game!

We have been lucky to be housed in Mariama’s friends place. For a month we have been staying there, sharing the space and their generosity. Meanwhile we have been looking for a place, a “home” more than just a place where we can move and start to live again in Paris… We are very closed to get there, so keep tune to unamormagico’s blog.

Thank you Marjorie and Xavier for giving us a hand during this transitional time…and thank you to all the friends who have responded so quickly to our cries for help!!!

15. May Day in Paris!

Well, May Day in Paris… what an experience..

Just a day before Mariama starts we went to march and watch the very political May Day in Paris. Not your average picnic day as in Australia…what a relief!

French people still idealists! The communist party is happening, the migrant communities (including the Chilean) are very much involved, and it seems that here the struggle has not ended.

You even could hear in the crowds “El pueblo unido jamás será Vencido”, and a jazzy version, a rap version, and your traditional march type of version of the international. (Even in Spanish!)

The most present issue today was about the new migration legislation which is being currently discussed by politicians and the community in France. Elections are around the corner, so some wants to “clean” the country, and others wants “solidarite pour toutes”…

The youth were grooving with the best sound system, rallying with a human chain like marking territory, around them. All ages and shapes, the rally had illegal migrants, the 68 generation, the old militant migrants like the south American community, supporting Cuba, and of course “les femmes”, the women movement!

1 de Mayo en Paris!

Gauu! El 1 de Mayo en Paris… que increíble!

Un día antes de que Mariama comience a trabajar fuimos a marchar y observar un día muy político para la comunidad francesa, “1er mai”. No el día del picnic, como se celebra normalmente en Australia… menos mal!

Los Franceses todavía son idealistas! El partido comunista parece ser muy activo, la comunidad de inmigrantes (incluyendo la de los chilenos) parecen muy involucrados, y pareciera que aquí la lucha no ha terminado aun.

Se podía escuchar en la marcha los gritos en español de “El pueblo unido jamás será Vencido”, y varias versiones de la Internacional en jazz, en rap, y en la típica marcha soviética. (Hasta en Español!)

El tema más presente en la marcha era a cerca de las nuevas leyes de inmigración que están en el tapete de la discusión de políticos y la comunidad en general. Con las elecciones a la vuelta de la esquina, algunos quieren limpiar el país de los inmigrantes, y otros quieren “solidarite pour toutes”…

Los jóvenes tenían el mejor equipo de sonido, y marcharon rodeados por una cadena humana hecha por ellos mismos, como protegiendo territorio. De todas la edades, tamaños, y formas marcharon los inmigrantes ilegales, la generación del 68, los viejos militantes inmigrantes como la comunidad sudamericana, quienes apoyaban a Cuba, y por supuesto las “les femmes”, el movimiento de mujeres feministas!

14. She got the job!! - Le dieron el trabajo!!!

On Tuesday 2nd of May, finally she starts her new job…
What a change! in less than three weeks in Paris and Mariama is now with Gide Loyrette Novel, one of the best and big private international law companies in Paris!!(www.gide.com)

Only the best for the best. Not yet her work as a lawyer but a great start after very hard months in Madrid.
New horizons and new life…
We are staying in Paris for a long while…

Le dieron el trabajo!!!!
El martes 2 de Mayo comienza su Nuevo trabajo…
Que cambio! En menos de tres semanas en Paris y Mariama obtuvo un trabajo con la compañía de abogados GIDE Loyrette Novel, una de las mas prestigiadas en Paris y otras partes del mundo!!!! (www.gide.com)

Lo mejor para LA mejor. No es aun el trabajo de abogada, pero un muy buen comienzo, después de siete arduos y duros meses en Madrid.

Nuevos horizontes, y nueva vida….
Nos quedamos en Paris por un buen rato…

13. Cristina and the Radio

Yes! Because it’s very important to let your loved partner know how much you love her and how much you are supporting her endeavours.

A propos... for the ones that don't know yet, Cristina Palma is a radio journalist, and she loves it! Through her work at SBS Radio in Sydney, Australia, in the Youth Program, and through her active participation and involvement in several Community radios, Cristina has found an exciting way to express herself. And she loves it! So much, that her dream is to help setting up a radio station in the Chilean desert.

I met her working at SBS. Not me... her! I had the chance to walk in the studios, to assist to the programs, when they were recorded or broadcasted live. I was very impressed and loved listening to her. So, since during my travels I didn't have a radio with me, the first weeks, I would sit down in the horrible car I had for the Gente Joven hour show, on Sundays, only to listen to her voice. This is were for the first time I heard Cristina declaring publicly her love for me... well, obviously not directly, because as a professional broadcaster you can not do these things... you have to leave your personal life outside of the studio… but the message was very clear to me! No one could fool me! Even though I didn't understand Spanish yet... it didn't matter: the words of love are universal, they go beyond language barriers!

I encourage my dear Cristina 100% to continue radio. That's why arriving to France has been a good opportunity to contact the Spanish section of RFI, Radio France International, where Cristina is promoting her services. Nothing will stop her, neither the exclusivity of such places nor the arrogance of a certain people. She walks in, confident, and starts conversing, the Latin American way I say, to make herself known. If they only knew what she has to offer! Red hair, golden hair, black hair, it doesn't matter. The more Queer, the better! Because Cristina has the capacity, the energy, the strength and the "tchatch", as we say in France, that's why, my dear friends, we wish her GOOD LUCK! So if you hear of any "radio possibility", let us know! Mariama

12. Paris... waiting for us!

Slowly, but surely. Paris is waiting for us, and we are anxious to know how it will treat us. The sun has smile, and some interesting opportunities in the horizon for Mariama. We have found a good reason why to leave Madrid, -Now Cristina is getting know Mariama's childhood-. Piano, neighbours, conservatorium, a river, the train, the morning baguette, and the family...so much to come. We really hope that this time would be for the best...

10. Ah la Primavera!

No es para menos, la primavera está aquí y hay que celebrarlo!!

Mariama y yo estamos comenzando una nueva etapa.

Hoy Mariama partió con su mochila al hombro ha colonizar tierra nueva. La tierra del vino francés, Burdeos. Ahí plantaremos una vez más, nuestras esperanzas y la regaremos con ilusiones y trabajo. Espero que la cosecha no se demore mucho!

Se que ya lo saben, pero lo tengo que decir denuevo, no han sido tiempos fáciles, y aunque nosotras elegimos este viaje, uno no tiene control de lo que se te aparece en el camino. Con todo el positivismo que podamos tener, sabemos que esta experiencia es un aprendizaje, pero también hay que admitir que hacerse camino como pareja en esto, no es fácil. (ya lo notaran en mi cara de cansada)

Esperamos que Burdeos nos trate mejor, ya que estamos un poco cansadas, y no con el mismo entusiasmo de cuando nos vinimos a Madrid. Por el momento, la experiencia en Madrid tiene gusto a “equivocación”, pero solo el tiempo dará su veredicto y la verdad es que objetiva no soy.

Hoy me salió en el horóscopo que todo los sacrificios y trabajo puesto en un proyecto, comenzarán a dar resultados. Y como la primavera está aquí, entonces me parece un buen augurio.

Tulipanes

Estos tulipanes son los primeros en salir en la tierra de la madre de Mariama, Holanda. Siempre pensé que cuando uno iba al aeropuerto, el que llega recibe las flores, pero esta vez me tocó recibirlos a mi cuando esperaba por Mariama de su regreso de Ámsterdam, donde visitó a su hermana y sus tíos (por parte de mamá)

Apropósito, los tulipanes son las flores favoritas de Mariama y las mías tambien.


Magíster en la Complutenese de Madrid

Finalmente ya terminé las clases del post grado que vine a hacer.
Un Experto en Promoción y Gestión en ONGD, el cual comenzó muy bien, y terminó pésimo. Es una buena iniciativa, pero que en España no tiene rubro realmente ya que el trabajo en ONG es casi todo voluntario, y por lo demás los que tienen oportunidad de lo poco que hay son los españoles y Ole!.

Ahora estoy pegada con una tesis que no creo que le interese a muchos, porque siempre quiero probar lo improbable que tiene que ver más con el respeto a las comunidades y la justicia. Pero bueno, no hay nada nuevo en esto. Los que ya me conocen saben de que va la cosa.

Despidiendo Madrid

Poco a poco nos estamos despidiendo de Madrid, y hemos salido a caminar y recorrer esas calles de postales que en realidad son maravillosas. Así que aquí algunas imágenes para compartir.

Spring is here and we have to celebrate!

Mariama and I are starting a new stage of our life together!!

Today Mariama left with her backpack on her shoulders to colonize new land. She is going to Bordeaux, the land of French wines. There, we will plant once more, our hopes and we will water it with our illusions and lots of work. I hope this time the growing of what we are planting comes out sooner!

I know you understand this, but I will say it again, these times in Madrid have been difficult lately. Even though we choose this path, we have not chosen the incidents we have lived through here in Madrid. We are still optimistic and trying to keep positive. We understand this has been a learning experience, but we also need to acknowledge that doing this together as couple can also be hard at times. You have to think for two, and moving two people around is harder than moving just by yourselves!


We really hope that Bordeaux treat us better, since we are very tired and we do not have the same enthusiasm as from when we came to Madrid. At the moment the feelings about Madrid is that “we made a mistake”, but time will tell, and I am not very objective about it right now.

Today I had in the horoscope that all hard work and investments in a project, will give its results soon. And as SPRING is here, I would take this as a good augment.


Tulips
These are the first tulips that have just flourished in Mariama’s mother’s land, Holland. I always thought that the lucky one to receive tulips at the airport, was the person to arrive, but this time I received them as a present when I was waiting for Mariama, when she returned from Amsterda where she visited her sister and aunty.

By the way, tulips are OUR favor flowers!!!

Post Graduate at the Complutense of Madrid

Finally I have finished the classes of the course I was doing, Expert on Promotion and Management of NGOD (Non-governamental organization for Development), which it started very well but ended to be not so good at the end. However I did learn a lot.
The organizers have good intentions, but the sector does not cooperate with this course, since work in NGO’s here is mostly volunteer. There is little room for professional work, and the small opportunities there are, are offered to Spaniards!! Olé!!!

As for now, I am writing a Thesis, that it would be of little interest here, since is about Community Cultural Development and International Cooperation. But this is no news, since those of you who know me understand why I do this type of work and not other.
