Manuel and Netty
This is a photo, of both of our parents, Manuel and Netty, who happened to be born the same day of the month, on the 25th of January.
Until now, I have never really celebrated my father’s birthday since he passed away more than 10 years ago.
When I met Mariama and her family, I learned that they always celebrate her mother’s memory with some special event.
Last year we built an altar for Netty! With wine, flowers and candles.
This year we celebrated Netty’s and Manuel’s birthday with a chocolate cake.
Both Aquarius, both young, and both taken away by cruel circumstances of life.
Nevertheless, both remembered with love, and both present in our lives.
